Family Friends of Scouting

Provides families opportunities to underwrite the cost of their children’s Scouting experience. Your financial support enables volunteers and professionals of the Mobile Area Council to achieve Scouting’s mission.

Donating is easy. Just complete any of these 3 options:

  • Click here to be taken directly to Scouting Gives
  • Fill out the pledge form digitally and email it to the fund development staff.
  • Print and include your pledge and stick it in the mail. We will mail your recognition item to you when we receive the pledge form.

Community Friends of Scouting

Financial support comes from many different sources. We run a variety of special events such as a Golden Eagle Event and Patron Legal Luncheon to honor community leaders. Golf and Sporting Clays Tournaments take the support outdoors. All of these events tell the story of the council and raise funds to support our numerous programs. Strong family and corporate support allows us to make focused efforts within our communities for major gifts. Hundreds of companies, organizations, and leaders not even registered in Scouting continually make the Mobile Area Council their choice of charity.

Major Giving Opportunities

James E. West Endowments

A gift to your local council, designated to the council endowment fund. The gift must be in addition to— and not replace or diminish—your annual Friends of Scouting support. A minimum gift of $1000 in cash or securities qualifies for membership. Many individuals and corporations make these gifts either on behalf of someone else, such as in honor of an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver recipient, a retirement, a special accomplishment, or anniversary—or in memory of a special individual.

Planned Giving

Your gift is invested in a Mobile Area Council Trust Fund and only the interest may be used for programs. The principal may never be used, so your gift is one that lasts forever. Life Insurance policies, Wills and Bequests are the most familiar and widely used way to benefit Scouting at some future time. It is how many donors choose to establish a legacy after their lifetime.

The Founders Circle

Donors are recognized for gift commitments of $100,000 or more. Unlike the other major gift recognition awards, a donor may qualify for membership with gifts made through:

  • Charitable bequests in a will or codicil.
  • Charitable trusts, such as unitrusts, annuity trusts, and lead trusts
  • BSA Gift Annuities or BSA Pooled Income Fund gift
  • Life insurance or retirement plan designations
  • Other deferred gifts approved by the local council.

The 1910 Society

Membership is available to donors who make gifts of $25,000 or more by means of :

  • Cash, securities, long-term pledges
  • Land
  • Property suitable to the council’s trust fund

Memorial & Honorariums

A memorial or honorary donation to the Mobile Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is a thoughtful way to celebrate the life of or recognize/thank a Scoutmaster or other volunteer leader, Eagle Scout, BSA Alumnus, Charter Organization Representative, or Scout supporter.

For every contribution, we will send a card to you and to the recipient you designate acknowledging this gift. If you would like more information, please contact Cheryl.Box@scouting.org, or call 251-476-4600.
